Eavesdropping on Nature: Wood Comes to Life in the Würzburg Town Hall

The exhibition Eavesdropping on Nature – Intarsias by Karl Pfleger invites visitors to the corridors of the Würzburg Town Hall on November 12, 2026. The works demonstrate how impressive visual worlds emerge from various woods, natural grains, and precisely cut forms.

A Dialogue Between Craft and Nature

Karl Pfleger developed his intarsias from the character of the material itself. The structure, color, and grain of the wood not only provide the background but also serve as the starting point for artistic design. This results in compositions with contrast, depth, and a captivating interplay of colors.

Between Symmetry and Free Interpretation

The exhibition combines artisanal precision with an open visual language. Harmony, symmetry, balance, and closure meet forms that leave room for personal discoveries. The event experience unfolds quietly and focused: visitors move closer, follow the lines of the grain, and continuously discover new details.

Art in the Historic Town Hall

The presentation in the corridors of the Würzburg Town Hall merges contemporary exhibition culture with a distinctive location in the city. The tranquil event atmosphere is suitable for a personal tour as well as for a cultural stop during a city visit. Event planning allows for visits during regular opening hours.
