Children's laughter, colorful masks, shared learning fun: The children's parade on the Lindau Island

On Saturday, January 31, 2026, the old town of Lindau will become a stage for a real family experience: The children's parade will march from the Unterer Schrannenplatz across the island to the Old Town Hall. Accompanied by music, colors, and astonished looks, families celebrate living traditions – age-appropriate, child-friendly, and safely organized.

This is how the island sounds: Drumming, fanfares, and amazed children's eyes

When little fools and dance groups move through the streets, a strong sense of community arises. After the parade, children's and youth dance groups from the Narrenzunft Henkerhaus Baienfurt e.V. will present their choreographies together with the animation team of the Narrenzunft Lindau Bodensee e.V. in front of the Old Town Hall. Tradition has it that the Fool's Tree is set up afterwards – lively Swabian-Alemannic carnival to look forward to.

Educationally valuable: Experience tradition and strengthen development

The children's parade promotes curiosity, orientation, and social skills: Children experience rituals, rhythm, and team spirit directly. As a member of the Association of Swabian-Alemannic Narrenzünfte (VSAN), the Narrenzunft Lindau maintains a tradition that belongs to the German list of intangible cultural heritage. Families find a learning experience that connects cultural knowledge, movement, and joy.

Safety and orientation for families

The starting point is the Unterer Schrannenplatz, and the destination area is the Old Town Hall (Bismarckplatz 4, 88131 Lindau). For children, visible clothing and a contact card are recommended. There will be road closures and altered bus routes on the island; please plan travel times and use parking options such as P4 Inselhalle or Karl-Bever-Platz P3 on the mainland. Children must stay with their parents during the parade.

Accessibility and family comfort

The route runs through flat urban areas; strollers are generally possible. Public restrooms are available around the island; information on changing rooms and additional family infrastructure will follow. Tips: pack warm clothing, hearing protection for sensitive ears, a small drink, and a snack.

Parents' voices

The reactions from parents are clear: The children's parade delights families.

  • Facebook: 'Finally a parade that puts children in the spotlight – safe, cheerful, child-friendly.'
  • Website: 'Our children are still talking about the Fool's Tree and the dances days later.'

Conclusion: You can expect a festive family afternoon full of joy, wonder, and tradition. Experience the Lindau carnival together – approachable, safe, and child-friendly. Arrive, join in, and create memories.
