450 Years Juliusspital Würzburg: History, Encounters and Franconian Enjoyment Moments
The Juliusspital is as much a part of Würzburg as the Bocksbeutel is part of Franconia. In the anniversary year 2026, the foundation invites you to a diverse series of events that makes 450 years of responsibility, care, culture and wine tangible. From March 11 to October 30, theater, wine, agriculture, behind-the-scenes insights, and a charity event combine to create a varied event experience.
An Anniversary Year with Many Facets
The Foundation Juliusspital stands for a wide range of social tasks. The network includes, among others, a hospital, a senior citizens' home, hospice care, palliative care, nursing education, agriculture, forestry, and a winery. The anniversary events bring these different areas into focus and show how closely tradition and present are connected in Würzburg.
Theater, Wine Tasting and Farm Festival
The opening will be the theater play The Treasure of Julius Echter in cooperation with the Theater Chambinzky from March 11 to April 5, 2026. On April 30, the anniversary wine tasting Juliusspital.Wine.Stories will take place in the Zehntscheune. The summer brings another highlight with the farm festival at Gut Seligenstadt on June 28: agriculture, foundation history, and Franconian lifestyle come together.
Open Doors and Lively Audience Atmosphere
On September 19, Juliusspital will open its doors. Visitors will get insights into the facilities and experience the foundation grounds with a chill-out area, live music, and a Juliusspital wine bar. Such a combination of information, interaction, and enjoyment creates a relaxed event atmosphere for families, culture enthusiasts, and wine lovers.
Finale with Erwin Pelzig
The conclusion of the anniversary year will be the cabaret charity event Who We Will Become with Erwin Pelzig on October 30 at the Community Center Heiligkreuz. The proceeds will benefit the Juliusspital Hospice Würzburg. Thus, the finale combines entertaining stage moments with an important social concern.
Conclusion: Würzburg Experiences Its Foundation
The anniversary program offers history you can touch, cultural encounters, Franconian wine culture, and special insights into an institution that has shaped Würzburg for centuries. Those who want to feel the connection of tradition, commitment, and event experience live will find numerous suitable dates throughout the anniversary year.
