The Golem in Würzburg: A fantastic stage experience between dream and awakening

On October 14, 2026, the Theaterwerkstatt Würzburg transforms Gustav Meyrink's famous novel The Golem into a mysterious stage experience. The audience follows Athanasius Pernath through the crooked streets of the Prague ghetto - into a world of mysticism, identity search, crime story, and love drama.

An expressionistic journey through the night

Prague appears in this production as a place between dream and awakening. The plot unfolds a dense event atmosphere, where grotesque images, Jewish and esoteric mysticism, as well as the legendary figure of the Golem merge together. The theater experience is aimed at visitors who appreciate strong images, literary subjects, and unusual perspectives on stage.

Athanasius Pernath and the search for change

At the center is Athanasius Pernath, a deeply unhappy person who initially faces his own life passively. When he encounters the Golem, Pernath realizes that a decision becomes possible. His journey leads through a world full of guilt, self-hatred, questionable decisions, and repressed longings.

Between crime story, love drama, and identity search

The production combines different theatrical levels into a mysterious story. The audience experiences a stage world that unfolds like a Kafkaesque nightmare or an expressionistic vision. It is precisely this combination of tension, psychological drama, and fantastic motifs that shapes the special audience mood of the evening.

Event experience in the Theaterwerkstatt

The Theaterwerkstatt at Rüdigerstraße 4 provides the perfect setting for this intense play. In the concentrated atmosphere of a theater hall, closeness to the stage action is created. The event planning appeals equally to literature fans, theater audiences, and people who want to experience an unusual cultural evening in Würzburg.

Conclusion: A theater evening full of secrets

The Golem promises an atmospheric evening with fantastic motifs, dark images, and a main character in search of identity and inner clarity. Those wishing to experience Meyrink's literary world live on stage will find a special date at the Theaterwerkstatt Würzburg on October 14, 2026.
