It was a spontaneous visit just before Christmas. The food was delicious and a generous portion. The server was very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was lovely, and the decorations were beautiful. From the castle, there was a fantastic view of the valley and the town below.

We enjoyed beautiful weather in the large beer garden. The atmosphere was lovely. The food was delicious (try the schnitzel with fried potatoes!) and plentiful. Drinks were self-service, but food was served. We'd love to come back!

After a trip to the Sophienhöhle cave, ten of us stopped at the Burgschänke (castle tavern). Since it was pouring with rain, only indoor seating was available. Our reserved table was kept free, even though it was very busy. Despite the stress and the packed house, the waiters were very friendly and accommodated special requests. It was only natural that they brought the kids' food first to ensure they were taken care of. Then we adults came and enjoyed a wonderful meal. The compact menu features classic dishes with a special twist. For example, there was a flatbread with a filling made from rice, whole-wheat, and soy flour. Various coarse sausages from which you could choose your own, and schnitzel with cornflake breading were excellent. It was a great meal and a pleasant gathering.

We weren't actually inside the restaurant, but only in the beer garden in front of it. It's beautifully situated in a lovely castle courtyard, and you can sit comfortably under large trees – a truly lovely atmosphere. We arrived shortly before closing time, but were still served very kindly and were even able to linger comfortably after closing time.
