Youth Center Bechtolsheimer Hof | Events & Program
The Youth Center Bechtolsheimer Hof, commonly referred to as b-hof in Würzburg, is much more than an ordinary meeting place. Since 1991, the house has been part of the Open Youth Work of the city of Würzburg and has developed into an important place for youth culture, encounters, and independently organized leisure activities. Located at Hofstraße 16, in the heart of Würzburg's old town, young people and young adults meet in the youth café, participate in workshops, develop their own projects, or attend concerts in the live club. The offerings are primarily aimed at young people between the ages of 12 and 26 from Würzburg and the surrounding district communities.
The b-hof combines social pedagogical work with cultural practice. Music plays a central role: The house supports the young music scene and provides space for rock, metal, hip-hop, and other non-commercial subcultures. At the same time, Bechtolsheimer Hof remains a low-threshold meeting point without a consumption obligation. Those looking for the current program, opening hours, or specific event information should check the official channels of the house, as dates, entry times, and participation conditions may change.
Bechtolsheimer Hof Events and Program
The event program of the b-hof is closely linked to the Würzburg youth and music scene. The Bechtolsheimer Hof is particularly known as a small live club for concerts. Event calendars regularly announce performances by rock and metal bands; at the same time, the cultural profile of the house extends significantly further. The b-hof describes itself as a youth café, rock joint, hip-hop store, integration space, disco, and workshop house. This mix explains why the place brings together different scenes and interests.
Live events mainly take place on weekends. The house thus provides a stage for bands and projects that often find no place in large commercial halls. For visitors, an immediate concert atmosphere arises: one stands closer to the stage, experiences local and regional acts from a short distance, and meets other music enthusiasts from Würzburg. Depending on the event, entry, start, age limits, ticket prices, and end times may vary. Therefore, guests should check the respective date in the official calendar before traveling.
In addition to concerts, workshops, projects, sports, games, group work, counseling, education, and leisure activities are part of the facility's tasks. The program is not solely dictated from the outside but is intended to address the interests and needs of young people. Initiative is explicitly encouraged. Anyone with a musical, creative, or community idea can contact the team to see if a project can be developed in the house.
The b-hof does not view events merely as entertainment. They are also part of cultural education and social participation. Young people learn to take responsibility, shape processes, prepare events, or contribute in a group. This results in a program that can change over the years and reflects the spirit of the young generation. Those looking for concerts in Würzburg, a live club for heavier music, or an open youth cultural offering will find a special address in Bechtolsheimer Hof.
Youth Café and Open Youth Work in Würzburg
The youth café forms a central area of the b-hof. It is designed as a smoke-free open meeting point and offers young people a space where they can stay without a mandatory purchase. According to the published information, the facilities include billiards, table football, darts, a small library, a reading corner, loan games, computers with internet access, a television with consoles and a DVD player, cozy seating areas, a bar, and a kitchen. The specific availability of individual offerings may vary in everyday life or during events.
Such a meeting point serves a different function than a commercial club or a gastronomic establishment. The b-hof aims to create a counterpoint to the commercial leisure industry. Young people should be able to shape their free time themselves and develop their own ideas. The house is therefore not only a venue but also a social space. Conversations, playing together, music, counseling, and spontaneous encounters are just as much part of everyday life as planned projects.
The open youth work is aimed at young people and young adults from Würzburg and the district communities. The house is open to people from different social backgrounds, nationalities, and scene affiliations. This mix shapes the lively character of the b-hof. At the same time, the principles of the house, the pedagogical concept, and the house rules apply. They create the framework for respectful coexistence and a safe operation.
The work is supported by professional staff, interns, volunteers, and young people. A support association also contributes to the work of the house. The annual visitor number is reported on the official website as approximately 16,000 people. This figure makes it clear that the b-hof plays a continuous role in Würzburg's city life. Newcomers do not need to bring any particular scene affiliation. What matters most is to accept the rules and approach other visitors openly.
Concerts, Rock, and Young Music Scene at the b-hof
The promotion of the young music scene is one of the most important profile features of the Youth Center Bechtolsheimer Hof. The house provides space for musical forms of expression that are not always at the forefront in classical cultural institutions or commercial venues. Rock, metal, hip-hop, and other subcultural directions have become visible throughout the history of the b-hof. The live club is therefore perceived by many music fans as a fixed address in Würzburg for smaller and intense concert experiences.
The history of the house is closely linked to the development of local youth culture. The b-hof was opened in 1991 as the successor to the former youth center Falkenhof in the vaulted cellar of Bechtolsheimer Primary School. In the 1990s, hip-hop gained significance in Würzburg. From 1998, the Würzburg Rock Nights and the 4 Elementz Jam took place at the b-hof, combining rap, DJing, breakdancing, and graffiti. This development shows that the house does not only react to existing trends but has also created platforms for new forms of youth culture.
A concert at the b-hof often differs from attending a large multipurpose hall. The spaces are manageable, the paths between the audience and performing artists are short, and the atmosphere is often immediate. For local bands, the club can be an important place to gain initial experience on stage. For the audience, this means the opportunity to discover new acts and directly support the regional scene.
Anyone wishing to attend a concert should inform themselves in advance about the specific date. Not every event has the same entry conditions. On some evenings, a single band is in the spotlight, while on others, several groups perform. Start, end, and admission can also vary. The official information from the b-hof is therefore more important than general details about the house. Especially for events aimed at young people, age regulations, youth protection provisions, or notes on supervision may also be relevant.
The significance of the live club lies not only in the number of concerts. The b-hof provides resources, spaces, and organizational support so that young people can shape culture themselves. This creates an environment where music is not only consumed but also experimented with, organized, and further developed.
Workshops, Projects, and Participation of Young People
The offerings of Bechtolsheimer Hof include numerous workshop and project formats in addition to the youth café and live club. The official information mentions, among other things, creative forms of expression, leisure activities, education, group work, sports, games, and experiential education. Which workshops are currently taking place depends on available resources, the interests of young people, and the respective program planning. Therefore, current announcements and direct inquiries to the team are the most reliable source of information.
A fundamental idea of the house is participation. Visitors should not merely participate in finished offerings but be involved in the development and implementation of concrete projects. This can happen during an event, a music project, an artistic action, a workshop, or a group activity. Young people learn to formulate ideas, distribute tasks, make decisions, and take responsibility for the outcome.
This participation has both a practical and a social dimension. Practically, young people gain experience in organization, communication, technology, planning, and collaboration. Socially, the joint work strengthens the sense of community and creates encounters between individuals who might not otherwise come into contact. The house describes initiative, creative action, and democratic behavior as important goals of its work.
Reducing disadvantages, promoting equality, and youth protection are also part of the educational mandate. The b-hof should be a place of encounter and a free space for young people. This does not mean that all conflicts or differences disappear. Rather, it means that they can be addressed and worked through in a supported framework. Professionals are available as contacts and support young people with questions, problems, or the implementation of their own ideas.
Anyone looking for a workshop should note that some offerings may require registration, an age limit, or a participation fee. Other activities take place openly and free of charge within the framework of the youth café. Information about holiday activities, excursions, and special events is often published separately. The b-hof is thus suitable for both spontaneous visits and for young people who wish to participate in a project or scene over the long term.
Address, Opening Hours, and Directions to Hofstraße 16
The Youth Center Bechtolsheimer Hof is located at Hofstraße 16, 97070 Würzburg, in the Würzburg old town. The central location makes the place generally accessible for young people from the city and for guests from outside. Event information also mentions access to the live club via Kettengasse. First-time visitors should pay close attention to the specified entrance when a concert is announced, as access may be described differently depending on the area or event.
The following opening hours are published for the youth café: Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Friday from 5:00 PM to 11:30 PM, and Saturday from 6:00 PM to 11:30 PM. During events, the hall may be open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. These times are general opening hours and do not replace checking a specific concert date. Special openings, holiday times, last-minute changes, or closed events may differ.
Traveling to the old town is conveniently done by public transport, bicycle, or on foot. For drivers, it should be noted that Hofstraße is located in an inner-city area. A large event parking lot is not mentioned in the available house information. Therefore, those arriving by car should check public parking garages or designated parking options in Würzburg's center in advance and plan additional time for the walk. The traffic situation and parking regulations may change.
For highly attended concerts, it is advisable not to arrive just before the event starts. Parking spaces in the old town may be limited, and demand may be higher for evening events. For many guests, the combination of public transport and a short walk is the most straightforward solution. Bicycles should also only be parked in designated areas to keep entrances, escape routes, and neighboring properties clear.
The b-hof can be reached by phone at 0931 56309. The email address is info@b-hof.de. For questions about entry, current opening hours, workshop registrations, accessibility, or individual events, direct contact is advisable.
Rooms, Atmosphere, and Important Notes for the Visit
The Bechtolsheimer Hof combines several functions under one roof. The youth café is the open, low-threshold meeting point. The live club forms the event area for concerts and other cultural evenings. There are also rooms for workshops, group offerings, counseling, and projects. The b-hof is not a classic event hall with fixed seating. Rather, it is a youth center with flexible uses, where the room layout and equipment depend on the respective offering.
A published fixed total capacity or a general seating plan is not provided in the available information. Therefore, it cannot be assumed that there will be seating at concerts. Depending on the event, the hall may primarily be used standing. Information about entry, seating, age rating, admission, and maximum occupancy should always be obtained from the respective event announcement or directly from the house.
The atmosphere of the b-hof is shaped by its location, its history, and the connection of everyday life and culture. Visitors can experience a concert one evening and play billiards in the youth café, attend a workshop, or meet other young people on another day. This openness distinguishes the house from a pure concert club. The b-hof is part of municipal youth work and therefore does not pursue solely economic goals.
It is important to note regarding accessibility. According to the city of Würzburg, the Bechtolsheimer Hof is currently not barrier-free accessible. Mentioned are high and steep stairs, lack of elevators and ramps, and no barrier-free toilets. The city also points out that the buildings are under monument protection and a comprehensive barrier-free modernization would incur significant additional costs. People with mobility restrictions or other support needs should therefore contact the house directly before their visit and clarify the specific conditions for the desired event.
In addition, the house rules, youth protection regulations, and event-related notes apply. Respectful interaction, consideration for other guests, and adherence to the team's instructions help ensure that the b-hof can fulfill its function as a safe and open place for young people.
Why the b-hof is Special for Würzburg
The Youth Center Bechtolsheimer Hof occupies a special intermediate position in the cultural landscape of Würzburg. It is neither exclusively a youth meeting place nor just a concert venue. The house combines open youth work, youth culture, social pedagogical support, and live events. This combination creates opportunities that are usually not available in a commercial venue. Young people can visit the place without having to buy a ticket or consume something, while at the same time having the opportunity to participate in concerts, workshops, or projects.
Particularly important is the promotion of non-commercial subcultures. The b-hof provides space for music genres, scenes, and creative forms that often develop from initiative. Rock, metal, hip-hop, DJing, breakdancing, and graffiti are among the areas that have become visible in the history of the house. Thus, the b-hof is a place where young culture is not only presented but also shaped by young people themselves.
Continuity is also a strong feature. Since 1991, the house has evolved without abandoning its fundamental mission. The combination of vaulted cellar, youth café, live club, and municipal youth work makes the place unique. Many offerings arise from the interplay of professional staff, volunteers, the support association, and visitors. This keeps the b-hof open to new ideas and different generations of young culture.
For Würzburg, this means an important complement to larger cultural houses, clubs, and festivals. Those looking for large stages, representative halls, or a fixed seating system will find these characteristics more in other venues. However, those who want to experience closeness, initiative, local scene, and a direct concert atmosphere will find the b-hof to be the right place. The venue stands for a culture that arises from encounters and is not solely organized by professional event organizers.
Before visiting, it is worthwhile to take a look at the current official information. There, the valid opening hours, concert dates, notes on workshops, and contact options can be found. This is the best way to experience the b-hof: as a lively place whose program changes, but whose fundamental idea remains constant – to give young people space for encounters, creativity, music, and self-determined leisure.

The cellar is really great for concerts. They also had free earplugs, and the drinks are reasonably priced.

Amazing concert venue with an excellent team! I played a concert there with my band yesterday, and I was thrilled with almost EVERYTHING. Great stage, awesome sound, phenomenal tech team, great catering, and overall, everyone was really wonderfully nice. Thumbs up for the b-hof!

I also have to say that I consider the venue extremely important. Especially for young people, it helps them find the motivation to get away from the screen and discover other leisure activities, including the chance to get involved. As a consumer, I also have to compliment the sound. It’s probably more due to the acoustics in the cellar vault than the tech team, but it’s still great!
