Schloss Steinburg Restaurant and Menu: Enjoyment Above Würzburg
At the culinary center of Steinburg stands Steinburg's restaurant with its 'Your Choice' gourmet menu. This concept offers finely tuned courses that can be combined into an individual menu sequence of up to six courses. Guests can choose according to taste and appetite without sacrificing the dramatic structure of a large menu. The kitchen interprets regional products in a modern and elegant way, accompanied by a wine list committed to the unique location: At the foot of the Steinburg lie the vineyards of Würzburg Stein – one of the most prominent wine regions in Franconia. Accordingly, the menu features top wines from Franconian producers, complemented by selections from international wineries. The view over the city and the Main makes the meal an experience; in good weather, the chestnut terrace is the most sought-after spot for an aperitif, a relaxed lunch, or the finale of a long summer evening.
In addition to the evening and menu experience, the day plays a delightful role: In Steinburg's café, homemade cakes and pastries as well as small savory classics are available during the day – an uncomplicated stop for enjoyment with a view. The café typically operates in the afternoon; current times and offers are communicated on the official pages. Those preferring to eat à la carte will find additional dishes in the restaurant that change seasonally. Wild, fish, and vegetable compositions in seasonal rhythm are particularly in demand.
Opening hours and the current menu can be accessed online; reservations can also be conveniently made digitally. External restaurant portals indicate continuous kitchen hours during lunch and dinner and mention a price range of approximately 28 to 99 euros per person depending on the menu and selection. For larger groups or celebrations in the restaurant, it is advisable to inquire in the event area of the house; this way, the team can tailor menu sequences, wine pairings, and special dietary requests precisely. A tip for connoisseurs: The combination of sunset over Würzburg, a glass of Silvaner from the Stein, and a multi-course menu is one of the defining Steinburg moments.
Hotel Schloss Steinburg Würzburg: Rooms, Amenities, and Service
The castle hotel is divided into three areas, each bringing its own character. The historic dream castle marks the origin of the current facility and was converted into a hotel as early as 1958. Here, classic elegance, stucco details, and a certain castle romance shape the ambiance. The rooms in this part of the building are individually designed and traditionally accessible via stairs; air conditioning is not provided in this area, although some rooms have fans. To the west, the country house follows, exuding a Mediterranean lifestyle: warm tones, poetic details, and the impression of a vacation in the vineyards. Rooms in the country house are also accessed via stairs, and air conditioning is not standard here. The modern counterpart is the refuge: spacious, clearly structured rooms and junior suites, some with open bathrooms, a subtle natural color concept, and, facing south, spectacular panoramic views over Würzburg. Most refuge rooms are air-conditioned – ideal for warm summer days in the vineyards.
In total, the hotel offers 69 rooms and suites in different categories, ensuring that business travelers, conference guests, couples, and families find a suitable option. For relaxation, there is an indoor pool with an adjacent sauna and outdoor sunbathing area – a quiet place to unwind after a city experience or conference. The public areas such as the restaurant, wine bar, café, terraces, and reception are arranged to create short distances: The dream castle forms the lively center, while the refuge with its courtyard and event spaces creates additional quiet spots. The interplay of historical substance and modern addition is particularly appreciated – it allows guests to switch between castle flair, meditative vineyard proximity, and urban views depending on their mood.
For travel planning, the classic key data is helpful: Check-in usually begins at 3:00 PM, and check-out is scheduled until 11:00 AM. Those arriving early with light luggage can often enjoy the view on the terrace while the room is being prepared. Services such as reservations for the restaurant or brunch, recommendations for wineries or city walks, as well as the organization of wine tastings and supporting programs are centrally managed by the reception team. The in-house wine cellar in Würzburger Stein is also practical – it allows for exclusive tastings in close proximity to the terroir that shapes the wines. Thus, a stay at Steinburg combines hospitality, enjoyment, and wine culture into a rounded experience.
Conferences, Celebrations, and Weddings: Rooms, Capacities, and Seating Plans
Those wishing to hold conferences or celebrations at Steinburg benefit from a portfolio of rooms ranging from focused workshops to festive gala dinners. Six conference rooms are available, all with natural light and, depending on the room, with direct access to terraces, courtyards, or the vineyards. The centerpiece of larger events is the plenary room with approximately 196 square meters: Here, about 160 people can be accommodated in theater seating, around 100 in parliamentary arrangement, and about 47 in U-shape; banquets can be realized with approximately 96 covers. For those planning multiple breakouts or parallel sessions, the plenary room can be combined with the adjacent auditoriums East and West. The West auditorium, for example, accommodates up to about 45 people in theater layout or around 20 participants in U-shape. Smaller rooms like Gremium, Culinarium, and Laboratorium are ideal for board meetings, creative workshops, or confidential discussions – sizes between 10 and 12 people ensure productive proximity.
The spatial environment is a plus for organizers: The refuge offers, in addition to indoor spaces, a stair courtyard with seating steps and terraces with views of Würzburg, suitable for coffee breaks, sundowners, or short team impulses. During summer events, grill and live cooking formats are popular; in the colder months, the castle transforms into a charming backdrop for Christmas parties. An experienced event team accompanies planning and implementation – from room selection to technical setups to menu coordination. Complementary supporting programs round out the agenda: guided wine tastings, cooking classes, quiz formats, a Stein wine rally, vineyard or torch hikes, and sporty team challenges can be booked. This way, a professional conference can be combined with an authentic wine and nature experience or a wedding can be enriched with a relaxed activity for traveling guests.
Weddings benefit from the scenic stage and the flexibility of the house. Outdoor ceremonies, festively arranged terraces, a red carpet, and floral arrangements – with the city in the background, photos capturing the day become unforgettable. Thanks to on-site accommodation options, late hours are not an issue; couples can offer guests room contingents and toast together in the castle to conclude the evening. Wedding planning is carried out with a dedicated contact person who coordinates components such as basic packages, culinary offerings, beverages, decorations, and technical equipment. For musical program points and individual wishes, the team has established contacts with regional service providers. This blend of professional organization, regional cuisine, and iconic location makes Steinburg a preferred address for vows and anniversaries.
For pricing calculations, a look at the hard numbers is worthwhile: The events department lists six rooms of varying sizes with direct natural light, as well as outdoor areas for receptions and breaks. Common portals indicate the core capacities of the plenary room and auditoriums; planning-relevant are particularly the theater, parliament, and U-shape layouts. Those needing details such as stage dimensions, ceiling heights, rigging points, or maximum sound levels can request a technical data sheet or schedule a site inspection – the elevation in the vineyards creates tranquility without sacrificing urban accessibility.

In the winter months, the house service ensures safe pathways in the outdoor areas. The hillside location also benefits from a quiet environment and clear air – a plus for restful sleep and focused work.
Brunch, New Year's Eve, and Seasonal Offers: What is on Offer?
Steinburg maintains a vibrant program and offer culture that aligns with the annual cycle. The gourmet brunch, where "almost" no wishes are left unfulfilled, is particularly popular. It is announced in the news or insights area of the house, often with thematic accents and suitable wine recommendations. Reservations are advisable, especially since the combination of views, culinary delights, and relaxed weekend timing attracts many regular guests. Seasonal culinary offerings and menu sequences are flexibly played in the restaurant – from spring herbs to summer grill and live cooking formats to autumnal mushroom and game dishes.
In the cold season, the castle transforms into a stage for Christmas parties with lights and warm colors. Companies and teams use the conference rooms for year-end meetings, followed by enjoyment formats like knight's meals, quiz nights, or gourmet events. Suitable supporting programs such as wine tastings in the in-house cellar or torch hikes through the vineyards can be added modularly. New Year's Eve is one of the most sought-after dates: The house publishes possible arrangements seasonally – such as multi-course dinners with wine pairings and a midnight moment above the city rooftops. Given the high demand and availability, early inquiries directly with the team are worthwhile as soon as the respective offers go online.
Beyond the major fixed points, there are numerous occasions throughout the year that play with the vineyard location: vineyard hikes with views of Bismarck Tower and Stein, tastings focusing on Silvaner and Riesling from the immediate vicinity, as well as impulse and cooking courses that strengthen togetherness. For couples planning their wedding, Steinburg offers a transparent component logic – from the basic package to decoration, music, and photo spots. For private milestones such as milestone birthdays, christenings, or anniversaries, various-sized rooms are available; in good weather, terraces and courtyards gain additional stages. Those coming for the first time should ask about the position of the sun: The view is beautiful at any time of day, but the golden hour just before sunset is unbeatable for photos.

Directions and Parking at Schloss Steinburg
Schloss Steinburg is located at Reußenweg 2, 97080 Würzburg, above the city in the Würzburger Stein vineyard. The approach leads up through the vineyard's serpentine roads. A significant advantage for hotel and restaurant guests: Parking spaces are arranged directly in front of the house on the Main side, allowing for comfortable unloading of luggage. For planning, there is a solid capacity of around 85 parking spaces, which also provides reliable flexibility during conferences or celebrations. Several parking bays are designated as e-parking spaces; currently, three charging points are available. Guests park for free, making arrival by car particularly uncomplicated.
Those arriving by train should head to Würzburg main station. From there, it is about three kilometers to Steinburg. The route leads through the city towards the vineyards and finally up the hill. Depending on luggage and time of day, taking a taxi is advisable. For navigation devices, entering the full address is sufficient; on the official pages, an overview map with the location of buildings, parking areas, and access points is also provided. This digital site plan is especially helpful for organizers to visualize pathways between the conference room, terrace, and breakouts in advance.
A practical tip: When arriving in summer, it is wise to plan a few extra minutes. The view tempts spontaneous stops along the way, and those arriving for the first time often want to capture a photo of the city, river, and vineyards immediately. For guests with limited mobility, access can be organized close to the entrance; the reception is happy to assist here.
Prices, Photos, and Booking: How to Plan Your Visit
To quickly turn an idea into a concrete visit, Steinburg consolidates all information centrally. For the restaurant, the menu, à la carte offerings, and information about the café are available online; reservations can be placed directly. External restaurant portals provide a rough price range between approximately 28 and 99 euros per person – depending on choice, courses, and beverage pairings. Binding prices and availability are always provided on the official site. For overnight stays, direct booking is recommended, as this usually shows the complete selection of rooms, current rates, and arrangements (such as enjoyment packages, brunch combos, or wellness extras). Those wishing to stay in a specific building atmosphere can choose between the dream castle, country house, and refuge at the time of inquiry.
Organizers can request data sheets on room sizes, seating plans, and technology. The wide range – from plenary to smaller boardrooms – allows for conferences, seminars, product presentations, and award ceremonies alike. Thanks to the hillside location, photo opportunities for press or social media shots are easily found; the courtyard with seating steps, the panoramic terraces, and the paths between the vines provide natural backdrops. For weddings, Steinburg provides sample schedules, packages, and components from which couples can compose their individual celebration. The on-site accommodation simplifies logistics, especially for guests traveling from afar. For international participants, it is helpful to know that the nearest major airport is about 100 kilometers away, while Würzburg main station is reachable in about three kilometers.
For inspiring impressions, a look at the photo galleries is recommended. From the chestnut terrace to historic masonry to modern lines in the refuge – the images showcase the diversity of the ensemble. The best live motifs can be found on-site shortly after sunset when the city lights come on and the Main winds through the scenery like a ribbon. Those needing image selections for invitations or social media campaigns can inquire with the house about licenseable motifs. For budget planning, parking is free for guests; three charging points are available for e-mobility. Culinary programs, wine tastings, and supporting modules are calculated based on the number of people and scope. A structured initial contact with desired dates, rough number of people, and occasion speeds up the proposal creation – the team usually responds promptly with suggestions.
Finally, a look at the context outside the door: The Würzburger Stein is one of the most significant locations in the region. The shell limestone slope, the south to southwest orientation, and the river-adjacent microclimate shape wines of Silvaner, Riesling, and other varieties. This proximity to the terroir gives a stay at Steinburg its special character – whether enjoying a weekend for two, bringing a team together, or saying yes to each other. Those seeking the authentic Würzburg feeling will find here the condensed panorama of city, river, and vineyard – with a glass of Stein wine in hand and the feeling of being above it all for a moment.

We were there on a Friday evening with seven people for the Your Choice gourmet menu at Steinburg. We had the menu as a 6-course meal, partly with wine pairing. To put it briefly: everything that evening was perfect. The welcome at the restaurant was very friendly. The menu itself was a delight, and in addition to the six courses, there were some surprises from the kitchen. We found the dishes exciting and refined, yet very accessible. The staff was always attentive and present, but never intrusive. The individual courses were explained very clearly, mentioning important ingredients and sometimes even the preparation method. Special requests were handled kindly and to our full satisfaction. Regarding the location: The drive from a previous event in the city center to Steinburg took just about 15 minutes. This journey should not be shied away from. At Steinburg, there is a generously sized parking lot right in front of the restaurant door.

We spent one night at the Schlosshotel Steinburg and were completely thrilled. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a smile that set the tone for the entire stay. Whether on the terrace, at breakfast, or at the reception… the staff was always attentive, warm-hearted, and genuinely friendly. We can hardly remember experiencing such great service in a hotel. Our room in the fairytale castle was a little gem: lovingly decorated, cozy, with a bed that was perfect for a good night's sleep. The view from the terrace down to Würzburg… accompanied by a glass of fine wine from the excellent wine list… was one of those moments where everything just feels right. In the morning, we were greeted with a breakfast that left nothing to be desired… abundant, fresh, and served in a magnificent dining hall that truly lives up to its name. A stay full of charm, tranquility, and enjoyment… we will keep this place in our best memories and return with joy.

Gourmet brunch - two stars for the delicious food and friendly staff, but unfortunately the implementation is not very customer-oriented. In advance, you have to provide your credit card details so that 80% of the hefty price can be charged if you cancel later than 72 hours in advance. We were there as a couple because we received a voucher as a gift. You don't have your own table, but sit relatively close to strangers. The buffet itself is also very tightly arranged, and you have to queue everywhere. The food is very tasty, no question about it, but the journey to a full plate is tedious. At a current price of 64.50 euros, you have to pay extra for cappuccino and similar drinks - which at 5.10 euros for a small cup is very expensive. Ultimately, we even had to pay an additional 5 euros per person on the voucher because prices are apparently raised every year and we didn't redeem the voucher in the first year. We didn't know the value of the voucher; it was valid for 2x gourmet brunch. All in all, unfortunately not very recommendable.

I had an excellent stay at Schloss Steinburg. The hotel is not only uniquely decorated, but the view - I had a conference there - was very impressive. The service was exceptionally helpful and thoughtful. I had a presentation, and I was missing something for it, and even at breakfast, a staff member organized everything I needed for my talk. Simply great. Thank you for that - it left a lasting impression. See you soon! Florian
